Dr. Alan Delmerico is a dedicated researcher with a passion for leveraging his skills to improve community health. He has spent more than 21 years pursuing applied research opportunities through Buffalo State University on a wide range of topics, including environmental prevention and health promotion strategies, health disparities, alcohol and substance use behaviors, mental health, physical activity and nutrition, and healthy aging. 

Dr. Delmerico received a BA/MA in Economics in 2002, an MA in Geography in 2004, and completed a PhD in Geography in early 2013, all at the University at Buffalo. With his training as a health geographer, his research interests have focused on the application of spatial analytical methodologies and collective impact approaches to improving community health in complex systems. Specifically, he has extensive training and experience in spatial analysis with point and areal data, multilevel and spatial regression analysis and modeling, survey development and implementation, continuous quality improvement using data driven approaches (especially utilizing a Results-based Accountability framework), interactive data dashboard design and development, environmental prevention and health promotion strategies, and Higher Education Anchor Mission analytics.
